Journal 9
I am currently taking EME2040 in an asynchronous online section. Something I like about the class is the use of tokens for things like turning in assignments late or revising them. I also like the tutorial vides to help on assignments. Something I somewhat dislike about the class is the pass and high pass options, I just have never seen it in any other class. Something I can do as a teacher to help improve the classroom experience is encourage feedback and use it to shape how I teach.
To me, open educational resources are resources that are available to anyone, at no cost. An OER that I have used a lot throughout my school experience is Kahn Academy. This OER provides tutorials including videos as well as text on a wide variety of topics. It is considered an OER because anyone can make an account and gain access to all of its resources.
I feel that while working on Assignment 4 I got more comfortable with speaking. This assignment actually worked out well because I am also in an intro to education class where I have to teach a lesson to a few peers so this was good practice. I liked that this assignment was on PowerPoint because I have a decent amount of experience with Microsoft Office programs. To improve next time I should start assignments like this sooner because I have not finished yet.
Hey Hannah! I love the start to your presentation. The graphic you used is so cute! Also I didn't know Khan Academy was a OER, I've used it so much its just like normal course work lol.

ReplyDeleteDo you remember 5Rs? OER does not mean just free resources. Can you modify Khan academy video or materials without any permission? Even resources under Create Commons License are not OER if you cannot modify.
ReplyDeleteHey Hannah! I agree with you, I also like the token system. I also liked assignment four because I had to teach a lesson to peers for another class, and was able to present it multiple times over which made me more comfortable with it.
