Journal 10
Working on Assignment 5 I acquired many new skills. Before completing that assignment I did not know how to include functional buttons on a PowerPoint. I liked how interactive my newly acquired skills allowed for my PowerPoint to be. Something I disliked was how many slides I had to include to achieve the game of jeopardy that I wanted to make. Below is a screenshot from the first slide of my PowerPoint. Next time I would like to make it more visually pleasing, I was focused on functionality for this assignment.
Some topics that I found most interesting from reviewing my classmates blogs weekly included when we discussed what we liked and disliked about this class. I found it interesting to see the differences in people and see how some people liked what I disliked and vice versa. Another topic I found inserting from reviewing my classmates blogs was when we discussed online badges. I remember someone wrote that they had received an online badge from Duolingo and I thought that was cool because it allowed for me to see a little bit of what my classmates were like.
My experience with tech-flex and digital badges in this class has been pretty minimal. I only completed five tech flex challenges to fulfill the COE participation study. That being said, I enjoyed the ones that I completed. I thought it was cool to be able to add personal touches to some of them. For example the "I'm thankful for..." tech flex challenge was fun and I liked seeing others posts for that too.
I think that using data collection tools such as surveys in my potential future classroom could be greatly beneficial in multiple ways. I could use them to check my students understanding of a lesson using a scale or something of that sort. This concept could be applied to any grade level or subject. More specifically, a survey could be used in a middle school reading classroom to see how many books each student read over the summer.
A technology skill that I would like to learn next would be how to use Excel better. I want to learn this skill because I feel that it can be used in a lot of real life settings such as an office or to organize data in my future classroom. If I wished to pursue this skill I would most likely just read more content about Excel and look up videos on YouTube about Excel for beginners. I could also learn from some friends who are more experienced in Excel.
Note:
I've written a letter to my future teacher self/future self.
